Grab announce the resumption of GrabHitch and with new rules

Grab has officially announced that GrabHitch will be back in service. Starting 22 June 2020, 10 am, GrabHitch services will be available again on the Grab platform.

The announcement came barely 2 days after LTA announced most carpooling arrangements would be allowed to resume in Phase 2.

GrabHitch services were halted temporarily on 7 April 2020.

The New Rules on GrabHitch

  • Stacking of rides will not be allowed. GrabHitch drivers are not allowed to accept more than 1 booking per trip. Any driver caught flouting the rules will have their account reviewed for suspension
  • Rider must sit in the back seat. For GrabHitch Drivers who like to ask the riders to take the front seat previously, please educate them to take the back seat now.
  • If the rider exceeds the maximum 3-seats rule, the driver can cancel the ride. Why is it a 3-seat rule not a 4-seat rule? Because the front seat cannot seat lah!
  • Drivers and riders must wear masks at all time. Any party reported not wearing a mask will have their accounts reviewed for suspension. There is also a good chance the party that report you to Grab will also report you to NEA.
  • Drivers are encouraged to disinfect your hands and vehicle frequently. Payment is recommended to be cashless to minimise contact.
