Good news to all drivers!
The grace period at Housing Development Board (HDB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) carparks have been temporarily extended till 31 May 2020.
The grace period has been extended from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. It takes immediate effect at all their car parks with the Electronic Parking System.
Motorists who exit within 20 minutes will not be charged for parking. Those who park more than 20 minutes will have to pay for the full duration.
What it means
If you park for the first 20 minutes, it is free. If you park 21 minutes, you park parking fee of $0.42, under the assumption that car park is $1.20 per hour.
Why so Good?
As more people are staying at home and turned to deliveries for food and groceries. The increase in car park grace period will allow delivery workers more time for to complete their delivery. Many Grab and Go-Jek have sign-up to do GrabFood and GrabExpress jobs.
HDB and URA said “We seek motorists’ cooperation to carry out their activities speedily and not to linger at any location longer than necessary, in view of the safe distancing measures,” the authorities highlighted in their media release.
