The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) has announced that they will be increasing ERP rates by $1 at selected gantries.
The ERP gantries that will be affected are
- CTE Southbound Auxiliary Lane to PIE (Changi)/Serangoon Road
- Northbound CTE after PIE – Set of 2 Gantries
Both gantries will have an increase of $1 during specific timing. The revised ERP rates will come into effect on next Monday 31 August 2020.
This will be the third ERP rate review.
Traffic Building Up
LTA explains the decision for the increase is due to localised congestion during the morning and evening peak periods. They mentioned that they will continue to monitor traffic speeds and traffic congestion closely.
Traffic has been slowing building up since the start of phase 2 as people head back to the work and school. Some drivers even shared their significant earnings on day 1 of phase 2 which was back on 19 June 2020.
ERP rates are reviewed once every 5 weeks and the next round of review will be announced in the last week of September 2020.
