The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) has announced new rules and guidelines for motorists and cyclists that will seek to improve road safety for all road users.
The Government has accepted the Active Mobility Advisory Panel’s recommendations for on-road cycling and the new measures will come into effect on 1 Jan 2022.
Besides the new rules, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) will also increase the composition fines to $150 for serious cycling offenses such as riding on expressways and road tunnels or riding abreast on single-lane roads
There will also be greater public education and enforcement to prepare for the upcoming changes as more people move towards cycling for leisure and for commuting.
Be Safe than Sorry
With so many cyclists on the road these days, it is inevitable that accidents happen. It was not too long ago that a cyclist tried to fraudulently claim against a car driver but got charged by traffic police instead.
