The most important SIRS scheme for self-employed private-hire and taxi-drivers is open for application on Monday 27 April 2020.
What is the SIRS scheme
The Self-Employed Person Relief Scheme (SIRS) is part of the Resilience Budget to help small business and self-employed people. The scheme will disburse 3 cash payout of $3000 each, in May, July and October 2020 to those who qualified.
An estimated 100,000 self-employed people will automatically qualify.
How to qualify for SIRS scheme
There are criteria to fulfil to qualify for the SIRS scheme. All criteria have to be fulfilled to qualify for the SIRS scheme.
Do I need to apply or do I Auto-Qualify?
Scenarios for Singles
- For Single, you need to fulfil the all 5 Are you Eligible Criteria (Blue Box). If yes to all 5 criteria, then you move to the 2 Do you Auto-Qualify Criteria (Green Box). If the answer is yes to the 2 Do you Auto-Qualify Criteria, you will auto-qualify and do not need to submit any application.
- For Single and fulfil ALL 5 Are you Eligible Criteria (Blue Box) BUT did not fulfil either any one of the 2 Do you Auto-Qualify Criteria (Green Box). You do not auto-qualify for the payout and must submit an application
Scenarios for Married People
- You are Married, you need to fulfil the all 5 Are you Eligible Criteria (Blue Box). If yes to all 5 criteria, there are 2 additional criteria for married people to fulfil. You and your spouse do not own 2 or more properties and your spouse assessable income do not exceed $70,000.If you fulfil the 5 Are you Eligible Criteria (Blue Box) plus the 2 additional criteria for married people then you move to the 2 Do you Auto-Qualify Criteria (Green Box). If the answer is yes to the 2 Do you Auto-Qualify Criteria, you will auto-qualify and do not need to submit any application.
- You are Married and fulfil the 5 Are you Eligible Criteria (Blue Box) plus the 2 additional criteria for married people then you move to the 2 Do you Auto-Qualify Criteria (Green Box). If you did not any of the 2 Do you Auto-Qualify Criteria (Green Box), you do not auto-qualify for the payout and must submit an application.
Appeal
If you marginally miss by ONE criteria and are facing difficult circumstances now, you can appeal. An important point to note, you MUST submit your application first even though you may not meet all the requirement.
After your application has been rejected then you can send an appeal.

Apply for SIRS
Be prepared to apply for SIRS by getting ready the necessary documents and Singpass. All application will have to be submitted individually.
For those of you who have been asking if Grab or Go-Jek will apply for you, the answer is no, you have to apply yourself with your Singpass.
