How to install the seat – All GrabFamily and Uber Car Seat Drivers are trained to be proficient with the car seat operations
Are all drivers equipped with a car seat – No, only selected drivers who had been trained to operate the child seat will be equipped with a child seat
I have 2 children but driver only has 1 booster seat – Most Drivers are only equipped with 1 seat, you may consider taking Taxis who are exempted from the rule
The Uber / Grab Driver refused to take me when I am with my newborn baby – There are certain weight and height requirements for the booster seats to be safely used. A newborn baby is unlikely to meet the safety criteria and may cause injury if not adhered
Why is there no such requirement for Taxis – LTA considers taxis as public service vehicles and would not be reasonable for them to be equipped with child seat daily. However, private-hire cars are “pre-booked” and are not allowed to ply the streets for street-hail, therefore they have plenty of time to install a booster seat when rider requests it.
