Singapore heads towards Phase 3 Heightened Alert on Monday, 14-June-2021. The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) has issued an advisory on the changes in private-hire and taxi services during Phase 3 Heightened Alert.
Increased Passenger Limit
The passenger limit for private-hire and taxis would be increased from 2 passengers to 5 passengers. The headcount does not include the driver. Only 2 passengers were allowed during Phase 2 Heightened Alert.
Carpooling Services
Paid carpooling services such as GrabHitch and RydePool will also be allowed to resume operations from 14-June-2021. However, private carpooling services arranged via platforms such as Telegram chat groups are still illegal and are not allowed to operate.
Social carpooling that does not involve any payments, such as those between families, friends and colleagues are also allowed to resume. A total of 5 paxs are allowed, including the driver.
Mask Wearing
All riders are still required to wear their mask during the ride. Drivers are allowed to refuse service to any rider who refuses to put on their masks.
Trace Together
Private-hire and taxi drivers are working on the frontline and have greater risks. Having the trace together app installed on their mobile device or the trace together token would help in contact tracing efforts. Early detection can better protect our families and our community.
