Jurong Island has always been a no-go-zone for private hire drivers for the longest time. It is going to change soon.
Grab has launched a collaboration with Jurong Town Corporation (JTC), to allow JustGrab trips to/fro Jurong Island. There will be an $8 surcharge for every pick-up
It will be a beta launch in the initial phase and only 1,000 slots are available for sign-up.
About Jurong Island
According to Wikipedia, Jurong Island is gazetted as a protected Place since September 11, 2001. Access control is contracted to a private security company, while the Singapore Army helps to protect the island.
Access to the island is controlled. All staffs and visitors must be issued with security passes. Photographic equipment brought to the island must be declared. Without permission from Island Security, it is forbidden to take photographs or videos on Jurong Island.
Unauthorised photography and video recording will be handed over to the police, and subsequently has their Jurong Island pass confiscated and their permission to enter Jurong Island revoked.
How to sign-up
Be among the first 1000 drivers to register via the link below by 7 March 2019 (12 pm). Grab will apply to JTC on your behalf for a Jurong Island Security Pass for your entry into the island.
There will be a one-time administration fee of $10 payable to JTC for successful applicants. Grab drivers will have to make payment at the Jurong Island Security Office when collecting their pass.

Important Note –
The Jurong Island Security Pass will be automatically deactivated if there is no entry record for more than 30 days (work permit holders) and 90 days (Singaporean/ permanent residents).
Drivers need to reactivate their entry pass at the Jurong Island Short Term Pass Office when their entry pass is deactivated. The process will take between 10 to 15 minutes.
Dormant Grab Drivers who have been reactivated by Grab needs to reapply as a new applicant for the Jurong Island Security Pass. The security pass will be terminated and surrendered when Grab driver deactivates their account.
