If Rider does not book multi-stop upfront, Drivers will charge based on the additional stop $5/5km method updated on 3 April 2017
Updated 3 April 2017
Grab has updated the additional stops / additional distance policy.
GrabCar drivers can now charge passengers $5 extra for every additional stop / 5km
What has changed from the old policy
The old policy only allows additional charge of $5 for additional stop within 5km.
If the additional stop is more than 5km from destination, rider must book a new separate trip.
The problem arise when rider has to book a separate trip. Most of the time, Riders have problem getting back the same GrabCar driver that she is already in the car with. They usually are assigned to another driver and as a result have to alight and wait for the next driver to arrive. It results in a unnecessary bad user experience.
The new additional stop / distance policy
Drivers can charge additional stops / distance per 5km up to maximum of 3 stops.
Every additional stop within 0-5km away from destination, drivers can add $5 to the fare.
Every additional stop within 5.1-10km away from destination, drivers can add $10 to the fare.
Every additional stop within 10.1-15km away from destination, drivers can add $15 to the fare.
Every additional stop within 15.1-20km away from destination, drivers can add $20 to the fare.
It is Simple
There is no need to complicate yourself. Just remember that every additional stop is still $5 within 5km.
When the distance is 2x or 3x of 5km, just multiply $5 by 2 or 3 times.
