Summary of the latest Government measures for the private-hire and taxi industry in September 2020

More help is on the way for private-hire drivers and taxi drivers in Singapore. The Government has announced another $112million to support the industry that has been badly impacted by the pandemic.

The announcement came shortly after Senior Minister of State for Transport Amy Khor announced that help is on the way.

What help is there?

Support for drivers include $300 per vehicle per month
Delivery allowed to continue until September 2021. Previously private-hire and taxi drivers were not allowed to do delivery jobs.

Changes to Private car Driver Vocational Licence (PDVL) Requirements

There were also changes to the requirements to be a new private-hire driver.


The new measures will seek to help protect existing private-hire and taxi drivers from more younger drivers joining the industry.
