Uber Free Private Driver Vocational Licence is a lie

There is no free lunch afterall

Uber Drivers who have signed up and submitted their Private car Driver Vocational Licence (PDVL) application to LTA through Uber’s Fastlane program are feeling cheated.

Previously, it was widely reported by Uber that they would be absorbing the cost of the PDVL

Zero Cost not equal to FREE

The latest newsletter from Uber also seem to suggest that the PDVL would be FREE.

The TRUTH

Uber has already paid for the PDVL course upfront first BUT they will deduct the cost of $156 from the weekly payment statement in 2 separate instalments after the training session.

The receipt will be issued at the training session to the Uber Driver. From there, Drivers will have to claim for a refund themselves under the SkillsFuture program.

SkillsFuture is a national program for Singaporeans to take up courses to upgrade their skills and stay relevant. Qualified applicants should have $500 in SkillFuture credits for them to utilise.

End of the day, the person who will be funding your Private-car Driver Vocational Licence (PDVL) course is our great Singapore Government.

When it is too good to be true, it probably isn’t true.
